Last spring I went to an exhibition in Louisiana (outside Copenhagen) "Avantgardens kvinder 1920 - 1940" and I became very impressed of what I saw from Sonia Delaunay. Inspired by her I have made a quilt from mostly hand-dyed fabrics. The dark green and red are not hand-dyed, the background is linen I dyed into black and then folded and put into a chlorin bath, I really like the shade of grayish green it got. I have not finished the quilt yet, I am not sure if I shall have a binding or not.

Love the contrast of the red with the gray - it gives the quilt a great focal point without a lot of background noise! Well done!
SvaraRaderaThis piece is really nice. I think the background came out great! The design..........very cool!
SvaraRaderaWhat a great way to create a background!
SvaraRaderaThe result of the bleach discharge is very good. I expect it is a colour you could not get any other way. Fascinating.
SvaraRaderaSandy in the UK
I like the subtle background fabric. A lovely tribute to the artist.
SvaraRaderaLovely, Vera. The colors are stunning. I'm sure it will be a beautiful quilt. I hope you will share it then too.

SvaraRaderaohhh this is wonderful - I can see where it could lead into a series of new ideas!! make sure you let us know what you decide concerning the edges!
SvaraRaderaLovely elegant simplicity. I like the look of the linen background and the color you got with discharge.
