I had to make changes

I had some comments from FB friends and made some changes, I think this is a much better layout. Thank you all!

Shimmering layout

I made a new layout for another Shimmering Triangels quilt today, it will be a small one, 50" by 50". I use Kaffe Fassett Collective and my own homedyed fabrics as alternate blocks. This layout will be on my design wall until Saturday when "Söndagsgruppen" will stay for the weekend at Björkdala Gård My new layout. Bad colors due to indoor light. This weekend will also be the last days for the exhibition at  Galleri Wallhofs säteri . We have had bad weather, rather cold and rainy days but interested visitors each day. It has been very nice to show around and to answer all questions and explain how I've used the material.

Another exhibition

Uppsala konstnärsförening is a local party for non-professional artists using watercolor, acrylic or oil. Not many of them use textile. Me and my friend Anne joined this party in the beginning of this year and now there is a collective exhibition just outside Uppsala, at Wallhof's säteri, a place connected to Linnaeus. The gallery is in the old barn. Old trees and a ground covered by cowslips My quilts in the background Anne's corner As I've shown most of my quilts here before I will not show any close-ups. The quilts were also shown in our collective exhibition i Lövstabruk, Konstkvilt - Art Quilt . My next project is to make a quilt for the Festival of Quilts Competition in Birmingham 2015. I will attend the festival and have already made all the reservations, looking forward to it!

Thread skeching

As I said before I really enjoyed the Pixeladies classes in Photoshop Elements , it's very interesting to see what you are able to do when you manipulate a photo. I've tried to make some sketches of buildings typical from the Southern part of Sweden. This one is 12" x 12" and doesn't fit my ink jet printer but I managed to print on Soluvlies which I then attached to soft linen. It's machine and handstiched and then the Soluvlies is rinsed away.     I also made adjustments on a flower (don't remember its name) which I printed on an Inkjet Fabric Sheet and finally made some thread sketching.       I link this to Off the Wall Friday , hope you will take your time to visit Nina Marie's blog.

Exhibition

My Art Quilt Group had an exhibition during Easter. We hang our art quilts in an old orangery and it was extremly cold and no heating. But apart from that the exhibition was a success and we had around 1400 visitors during these four days. Our exhibition was part of a lager annual one which take place in the area between Uppsala and Gavle. I was lucky to have two art quilts sold and we all had lots of positive feed back. Today I was very happy when the postman arrived with Leni Levenson Wiener's book Thread Painting , very much needed as I'm starting a new project. It's Friday and I link this to Off the Wall Friday , hope you will take your time to visit Nina Marie's blog. Keyed Fiddles were played in front of my shimmering quilt (Söderfors Brukskapell) "Linjer III", handdyed and discharged

What's going on

A couple of weeks ago I started to make an One Block Wonder. I had seen some very beautiful on Facebook and decided to use Philip Jacobs Brassica in gray. But I must admit it's no hit. I've just put some of the blocks on my design wall but they are very dull and the hexagons are boring to make. I've decided to make all blocks even though I'm tempted to stop now and let it be for a crib.  I'll be lucky when the quilt is finished. One Block Wonder Perhaps the reason is that I've picked out some fabrics for a Shimmering quilt? I Think the colors are great! Another shimmering quilt? My first one is ready, longarm quilted by Kerstin Andersson Sybutiken Pastellen , binded and labelled. "Shimmer"

Shimmer

This might not be an art quilt but I want to show my finished top inspired by Jenny Bowker's quilt . I started in the beginninig of November last year before her pattern was available to buy and I can tell you I had a hard time to understand how to make the top as there is no regular block. Later I bought her pattern and it's very easy to follow her instructions and there is a faster way to sew all the halfsquare triangels which I made one by one. Cropped, 64" x 80" in total The top is now at my friend's as I have asked her to do the longarm quilting. Later I'll make another smaller one following Jenny's pattern. All the printed fabrics are Kaffe Fassett Collective and the rest from my handdyed stash. It's Friday and I'll link to Off the Wall Friday, hope you will take your time to visit Nina Marie's blog.
